OFFICES
Comfort where people are. Savings where they aren't.
Presence, daylight and schedules coordinate lighting, climate, blinds and meeting spaces while people retain simple local control.
KNX FOR COMMERCIAL BUILDINGS
Lighting, climate, shading and building operations working together—across one room or an entire campus.
Choose a building to see what KNX changes.
OFFICES
Presence, daylight and schedules coordinate lighting, climate, blinds and meeting spaces while people retain simple local control.
SCHOOLS
Classrooms, corridors, halls and administration respond to occupancy, daylight, air quality and school schedules.
SECURE FACILITIES
Distributed building control supports zoning, monitored status and integration boundaries without replacing dedicated security or life-safety systems.
WAREHOUSING & LOGISTICS
High-bay areas, aisles, loading zones and external spaces respond to presence, daylight and operational schedules.
BUILT AROUND THE BUILDING
Select an environment, then change its operating scene. KNX connects each decision across the systems that need to respond.
OFFICE
Lighting, climate, shading and room status respond to presence, daylight and the way each space is actually used.
Comfortable workspaces, simple local control and meeting rooms ready for the activity taking place.
Live zone status, operation matched to demand and fewer empty rooms consuming energy.
EDUCATION
Classrooms, corridors, halls and administration follow the school day while teachers retain clear, immediate control of their space.
Consistent light, air quality and comfort with controls that do not interrupt teaching.
Whole-campus schedules, room-level visibility and rapid changes for events or holidays.
SECURE & CRITICAL ENVIRONMENTS
Distributed KNX control supports defined zones, visible building status and controlled interfaces to specialist systems without pretending to replace them.
Consistent working conditions and authorised controls suited to each operational zone.
Maintainable distributed control, clear status and integration boundaries that can be documented.
WAREHOUSING & LOGISTICS
High-bay lighting, loading zones, offices and external areas respond to presence, daylight and operational shifts.
Well-lit routes and work areas that respond quickly without slowing the operation.
Zone-level control, reduced burn hours and clearer fault and operating status.
HOW THE BUILDING CONNECTS
KNX is the common control layer. Switches, sensors, room controllers, gateways and actuators all share the green KNX TP bus. Lighting then leaves the KNX–DALI gateway on its own DALI pair, while mains wiring remains separate.
Every KNX device joins the same green two-wire bus and exchanges addressed telegrams. The power supply energises the bus; normal room control does not depend on a server.

The switch publishes a KNX group telegram. The KNX–DALI gateway receives it and sends the lighting command on the separate DALI pair. The light drivers remain separately mains powered.
The KNX power supply, switches, sensors, room controllers, gateways, actuators and 1Home Server all connect to the same KNX TP bus. It carries bus power and telegrams and may use line, tree or star topology within KNX rules—not a ring.
The gateway has KNX on one side and a separate DALI two-wire control pair on the other. DALI runs to drivers and luminaires; KNX switches and sensors do not sit on DALI.
Protected mains circuits supply lighting drivers, motors and plant. KNX and DALI carry control information; neither replaces compliant power wiring, protection or the engineered electrical design.
Representative topology only—not a construction wiring diagram. Cable selection, segregation, protection, topology limits and specialist-system interfaces must follow current standards, manufacturer instructions and the engineered project design.
DESIGNED FOR EVERY DECISION MAKER
Good building control must be buildable, commercially defensible and straightforward to operate for decades.
FOR ELECTRICAL ENGINEERS
Use a proven open standard, coordinate services through defined interfaces and retain a clear path for extensions and long-term support.
FOR BUILDING OWNERS
Bring core building functions onto a durable standard, choose among compatible manufacturers and adapt spaces as tenants and expectations change.
FOR FACILITY MANAGERS
Use central visualisation for status, schedules and faults while each room continues to operate locally if a supervisory interface is unavailable.
WHY KNX
KNX is not just lighting control. It is an international building-control standard that lets compatible products from many manufacturers work together across disciplines.
Choose compatible devices from many KNX manufacturers instead of tying the building to one closed product family.
Functions are shared across programmed devices, reducing dependence on one central proprietary controller for normal room operation.
Reconfigure scenes, schedules and zones through software, then extend the topology as floors, tenancies or services evolve.
KNX Secure options can protect supported communication when selected, commissioned and managed correctly as part of the project security design.
